currently dealing with a labral tear in both my hips. Left hip has FAI hip impingment. Has anyone experienced this before? Doing my research on having hip arthroscopy surgery. It's a big decision...seeking any advice and experience. Please help.

I only know about this because DP has it. He decided against surgery and lives with it. I think it depends on the level of your pain whether you can do this.

I know two women who have have the repair and within a year both went on to have a full hip replacement. So he is happy to stick it out.

I have it. Both hips. Both FAI and mild hip
Dysplasia. And hypermobile. Surgeon wanted to do double hip arthroscopy but said I’d probably be looking at total hip replacement in 10 or so years. (I’m 41) not keen on surgery - so I’m trying to manage it by exercises to
Strengthen hips and glutes but I’ve slacked off the last few weeks and it’s soooooo painful tonight! So - if you are managing though exercise- do them!!! I’m hoping to give myself enough time so that I can go straight to
Total hip replacement. There are a few FB Support groups- most are pro
Surgery. Happy to chat through if you want to message me directly.

I would get a second opinion - I was first diagnosed with a labral tear and was going to have surgery for it on the NHS, but got a second opinion privately and although I did have a labral tear it was because I had hip dysplasia. I'm currently recovering from PAO surgery, which is a pretty big surgery but its honestly changed my life and should mean I can avoid a hip replacement for a good 20 years.
