Any hedgehog experts?

Hi! We have a hedgehog hiding in a gap between our fence and patio. A neighbour noticed their dogs being interested in the spot and saw him scurry into the gap. This was in daylight.

I guess he wouldn’t naturally like to be wondering around in daylight and I’m worried he’s got himself stuck. Our fences are solid with no gaps for him to get out so not sure how he ended up in the garden at all. Should we put some food down and leave him to it, assuming he’ll find a way out? Or try to help him out? We have a cat but he hasn’t been interested yet...

Any hedgehog experts?

Our local hedgehog rescue says if a hedgehog is out in day light it is usually in trouble. I would contact your local hedgehog rescue and discuss with them how to help it.

Poor soul might be dehydrated .
Offer him some cat food (meat based not fish) with some water mashed in.

You don't know how long he's been there .

Thanks everyone. I left some water out but decided not to leave food as worried it would draw the attention of my cat or foxes. I’ve just been out to check and he’s moved on so hoping he was disturbed by the dogs next door and has now gone on his way! Fingers crossed!
