Lemon custard a brutish flavour

Hello,

I'm watching an American baking programme and the contestants had to use a British flavour in their cake and they've chosen lemon custard stating it's a very British thing.

Is it?
I've never had it so wondered if I was missing something

Perhaps they’ve got confused between lemon custard and lemon curd? Seems a bit odd anyhow

No, never had it. Only clicked on this to find out about brutish custard though. Autocorrect strikes again.

Ha me too. I thought you were appalled at the thought of lemon flavoured custard.

I too would like to hear more about brutish custard

Is it very threatening to other pudding sauces?

They probably mean lemon curd as it is made in a similar way to custard with eggs, sugar, lemon juice and maybe butter.
