This afternoon DH and I are off to look at a car with DD for DD who is 17. What do we need to ask? Look for ? Make sure it's not a scam and being ripped off? How do we pay ? Pretty clueless so appreciate all your experience and advice! Thankyou xx

I cant offer a great deal of advice but if it was me personally I would run a check through the DVLA on it first, check the insurance isn't unaffordable, pay by BACS and reference the number plate (I dont think you have much/any comeback on a private sale but if it did turn out to be stolen or something at least you have proof you paid for it), check what its last mot passed or failed on and yes, I would make an offer! Unless it's £1500 for a new jaguar then you would be really taking the piss Grin

Thanks , I have just put in the number plate into DVLA that was really helpful. We have no idea about these things. Also i have checked the insurance and it's as affordable as it could be !

Ah fab! I would also ask for a test drive if insurance covers you or even ask them to take you for a drive so you can hear if here are any iffy sounding noises coming from it! Smile I hope its perfect and she enjoys driving it!

Yes, my insurance will cover me and yes thought important to see if drives nicely, clutch feels good etc x
