Help! Norethisterone/minipill advice needed

Hi
So asked gynae for a prescription for Norethisterone to delay periods for a week so needed 3 tablets a day x 10 - first ones to be taken 3 days before period due.
Collected prescription today and he's given me what I understand to be the minipill. 62 tablets of conceplan Ethyl oestradiol 0,03 mg und Norethisterone 0,5 mg.
One tablet to be taken the same time each day.
I have not been on the pill since I was a teenager.
Can this still be taken before period is due and postpone it or has the doctor totally misunderstood (all the above conducted in German):
Clearly if taken 3 months ago with no break in between that would have prevented a period but this was meant to be a one-off. Is there enough norethisterone in one tablet or will I get spotting and period anyway or just some breakthrough bleeding. Period would have been due anytime from Tuesday (irregular)
Thanks in advance x Flowers

Have just looked up norethisterone and it talks of 5g tablets x3
Whereas I have only taken 0.5g x1 and it has the other active ingredient ethyl oestradiol.

I cannot take 10 tablets a day - that would be absurd and I assume oestrogen being added to the mix would not be good.

Am I totally screwed?

That combination is normally given as HRT, and can cause irregular vaginal bleeding and spotting, so wouldn’t normally be prescribed to delay a period as far as I know. I don’t reckon it will contain enough norethisterone to have much of an effect, sorry. I definitely wouldn’t take ten of them to test it! I reckon the gynaecologist either misunderstood or clicked on the wrong drug on the prescribing system. Is there enough time to ring up and ask?

Sadly not. All pharmacies close in an hour and to make things worse I had to pay 43 euros for this Sad Norethisterone is obviously prescription-only and gynae appeared to type it into his computer before clicking on an option - when I said I needed 30 tablets he said the smallest he could find was 62, that should have set alarm bells ringing as I had already seen the amount I needed online.
Would taking this tablet lighten the period at all or is it just likely to cause a longer one?

Oh and gynae appointment was yesterday but he was going on holiday this week - I might get lucky if he's not away yet and I have a quick word Monday morning but by then it will be too late even if he gives me the correct dosage. Am really fed up.
Thanks for replying though x

Oh that's a pain. I honestly don't know what effect it would have on your period, and to be honest the dosage you've mentioned sounds pretty low to me. Maybe it's a German thing? Sorry I can't be of more help!

SoupDragon · 10/08/2019 18:55

I have norethisterone upstairs and it is 5mg not 5g

SoupDragon · 10/08/2019 18:56

Ignore that - your OP says mg. Just a typo in that later one i guess.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 10/08/2019 22:54

Yes, typo. Sorry soup Dragon. It's definitely the wrong medication I think and the wrong dosage but I cannot do anything about it now so will have to rely on mooncup potentially. Am just a bit Angry because verschieben means postpone and I definitely said that's what was needed so am Confused as to what was lost in translation. Ah well.
