Amsterdam - restaurants

Hi!

Can anyone recommend some nice restaurants in Amsterdam that would have a few veggie options too?

We are struggling a bit at night to find places that are not in a really busy/tacky area!

Any family friendly suggestions?

Thanks

Bolhoed

Golden temple

A quick google tells me that sadly Bolhoed has closed. Golden temple is still going:

Yes my fab restaurant in Amsterdam is Moeders (translates to mothers): www.moeders.com/en/home
My husband used to live over there and it was where he took me for 'proper' food. You do need to book a table in advance though. We went at 6.30pm on a Wednesday once and you still couldn't have got in without booking (partly because it's tiny). Would highly recommend it!

  • fav not fab. It's not actually my restaurant.

Btw the walls of full of photos of people's mums - if you take them a pic in a mini frame they'll add yours to the wall!

Moeders is no good for vegetarian food

Greenglassteacup · 09/08/2019 19:03

It’s v. Meaty

We used to go to the Wilde Zwijnen for special meals out when we lived there. I miss it!

Lion Noir is good

Almost everywhere will have at least 2 vega options these days. Vega is quite a big thing here now. If they don't they probably haven't updated their menu since 2010 so worth avoiding anyway.

Blauw Indonesian is good and will have a vega/vegan rijstafel option for a truly Dutch experience. You have to book though. Humphrey's is a chain, but is reliable. Otherwise, google 'vegetarisch restaurant amsterdam' and you get a lot of truly meat free options

Not sure of the name but it's part off the Radisson blue hotel.
Best food I ever had.

Thank you everyone much appreciated - I will look up all of your suggestions x

Miu - amazing sushi restaurant with lots of veggie options. You pay a set fee then can order 25x dishes pp in rounds of 5x dishes from what I remember. Last time we went to Dam we discovered this place and ate there 2 out of the 3 nights we were there.

De Kas : restaurantdekas.com/eng/menu
Wonderful for a special occasion. Relaxed gezillig setting and the food is stunning.

Meatless District
Weed Burger Joint (seaweed, that is)

You've got to have a veggie rijsttafel in an Indonesian restaurant. One of the best meals I've ever had.
We also went to a little Kurdish restaurant: zagrosrestaurant.nl/?lang=en

Herocomplex · 10/08/2019 09:01

I’ve wanted to go to De Kas for ages, it looks amazing.

D&A hummus bistro. It's not posh tablecloth and silver service type place but the food is epic. We went twice last time we were there.

We really enjoyed Moeders on our last trip... Not sure about their vegetarian options as we ordered the sharing/sampler menu.
