Do you have a power cut right now? How bad is it please? Are all the stations out? I've got some colleagues due back to the Midlands from London but I'm not sure that will be happening!

Just got on a train out of London - they’re a bit delayed but mostly running OK

Persea · 09/08/2019 17:52

Major power failure affecting trains and airports www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-49300025

Aragog · 09/08/2019 17:53

All fine here in Sheffield.

I'm assuming that when the BBC and other news keep saying that lots of the UK have a power cut they basically mean London and down South, probably SE.

Is there anything on Twitter re the trains - or even using the live departures stuff on TrainLine?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 09/08/2019 17:54

Gateshead area off for about an hour literally just come back on

khaleesi71 · 09/08/2019 17:55

I'm currently hurtling to the south coast on a train from cannon st. It was on time and the skies are a beautiful blue although I'm ignoring the horrid forecast for tomorrow

differentkindofpenguin · 09/08/2019 17:55

North West here, big chunk of my area was out for half an hour or so

Frith2013 · 09/08/2019 17:55

Off for half an hour here but it’s half a hours drive to our nearest station so no clue about trains!

Welsh Marches

From what I heard on the radio most of Tyne and Wear had a cut.

NewDirectionRequired · 09/08/2019 18:01

Was out in parts of Northamptonshire but only for half an hour

lanbro · 09/08/2019 18:07

North east here, were out for about half an hour although the supermarket nearby seemed to be running on a generator after my house had come back on

RezCowgirl · 09/08/2019 18:08

Nothing in Derby

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 09/08/2019 18:10

I'm 20 minutes from Sheffield and it was off for about half an hour or so. Back on now though.

JustLikeJasper · 09/08/2019 18:11

Fine in Hertfordshire

Asmoto · 09/08/2019 18:12

Seems to be OK here in W. Yorks at the mo.

KenAdams · 09/08/2019 18:12

Sorry I should have said they are travelling back from either St P or Euston (whichever they can get first I should think). If they aren't cancelled for the rest of the evening or anything then I'm hoping they should be ok. Thanks all :)

pinkcardi · 09/08/2019 18:24

No trains seem to be coming to our station from either kings cross or St P.

DH stranded. Me on the wine. DC bickering constantly

Al2O3 · 09/08/2019 18:56

Fine here in Cornwall. Just overlooking the sea and having a nice glass of wine. No power involved at all.

FuckAPotNoodle · 09/08/2019 18:57

Fine central Scotland

Moonflower12 · 09/08/2019 19:06

Just got back from an epic train journey from Wales to Warwickshire. Lots of delays and cancellations but lots of kindness too.

We were let into the massive queue for tickets so we could run for our train.

We were let through the barrier- everyone stood back. We may have been a bit traumatised at this point.

And someone put their leg on the platform to hold the train for us.

And then we were given a seat by a lovely man. We may have been a bit sweaty and traumatised by then.
