Non breakfasty food....

....Just back from a week away and there’s no breakfasty food in the house- so i’ve made cannellini beans in butter sauce a la Jack Monroe. What would you have made if you were me? (Leftover takeaway -the breakfast of champions- is disqualified)

Cannellini beans / chickpeas / etc is a breakfast dish where I come from! My breakfast this morning was a pancake made from lentils ground to a paste with onions, ginger and green chillies, served with chai.

I don't eat breakfast but I'm intrigued by the cannelini beans in butter sauce. Is it nice? I have a tun of them that I need to use up.

Here

So very delicious- and so much more than the sum of its parts!

Thank you! I will definitely be trying that.

Try it with a bit less vinegar the first time- it’s quite sharp, which I love, but the rest of the family like it milder.

Thank you for the tip.

This morning I had an omelette and salad sandwich. I often have a sandwich for breakfast. If I have porridge it's usually in the evening.

I sometimes eat dry cream crackers for breakfast. I’m not really a breakfast person but if I feel I should have something then crackers are ok. But, I went to uni with a guy who would eat Smash made wth warm milk everyday. He would Garry the condiments for variety, horseradish, cranberry sauce, ketchup, mint sauce, soy sauce etc.
Actually come to think about it, I think I’ve worked out why I’m not a brekkie person...

I love a samosa for breakfast sometimes, a guy I used to work with had a wife who was an incredible cook and she’s often send him in with a bag of warm snacks to share with the team and ever since I’ve often enjoyed a spicy breakfast.

P.S Which type of vinegar did you use for it, Bertrand?

BertrandRussell · 10/08/2019 10:52

@PolkaDotted either white wine or cider. I think I like cider slightly better...

Thank you again. I have cider vinegar but no white wine, only red, so that's perfect.

@Teddybear45. I really want your breakfast! How do you make the pancakes please? My MIL makes paratha when we stay with her and they are amazing. Love a spicy breakfast.
