I’ve recently had a lot of trouble with my Barclays account, anyone recommend me a good current account?

I’m with First Direct and have always found them very good personally - customer service is excellent.

Another vote for first direct, they are the best for customer service on money saving expert, they also have a 5% regular save which is good.

Also First Direct here.

My DM loves Nationwide too

DH has just changed from Barclays after donkeys years with them . He’s gone to First Direct. I gave up with Barclays three years ago and went to Nationwide.

Another agreement to First Direct over here!

First Direct or Starling. They both have good customer service and are easy to use.

First Direct.
They are absolutely fantastic.
Online banking is really easy.
You can phone them 24/7 and speak to a real person based in UK, they are so friendly and helpful. I have been with them for over 30 years and would never change.

Monzo or First Direct

Another vote for First Direct!

I've just opened a Starling account and I really rate it. The app allows you to create little pots to save money within your current account which helps me with budgeting. It also rounds up what you spend and adds it to your target fund. I have one for my holiday. It also updates what you spend straight away and it's very clear. A colleague recommended it to me and I'd not heard of it. Apparently Martin Lewis rates this also.

First direct. 25 years and no problems.

Bank of Scotland have been super for me for over 30 years now.
Their customer service is brilliant, you can always get through quickly on their phone line, and the staff are very clued up.
I once had a dreadful utility company, who put the same quarterly direct debit through my account repeatedly in error until the account went into the red.
They tried to tell me it would take three weeks to return my money, so I phoned the bank.
Alastair at the call centre got straight on it. He phoned me back at work in the operating theatre, within minutes, and said in his beautiful posh Edinburgh accent:
“Frankly, I wouldn’t trust them to sit the right way up on the toilet! I’ve ordered them to have that money back in your account tomorrow morning. And I’ve corrected the records to show your account was never in deficit.”
I’ve been a fan ever since, even though both DDs now work for RBS!
