Hoping for advice, In may I had a early miscarriage. (Employer aware of miscarriage) Since then we have decided to continue trying, when it happens it happens so possibly could get a BFP next week or could be another 6 months from now, Basically my manager told me yesterday the job that has come up is mine if I want it it’s slighter better pay and generally just a better role (I do want it) Would it be selfish of me to take the job even though I could potentially get pregnant at any point? Or should I go for it anyway? What would you do?

Take it. They think that you are the right person for the job and they know that there is a chance you will be on mat. leave at some point. They want you for what you would bring to the role. Also maternity leave doesn't last forever.

Do it!
You have no idea how long it'll take to conceive. No point putting the testw of your life on hold, and your employer seems to have this attitude too

Even if you're pregnant in a fortnight you'll still be able to do 7-8 months at the new job, get mat pay at the higher level, then have something challenging to get your teeth into once you're back at work

Win win win for you and your employer

Definitely the wrong attitude to avoid it in case you get pregnant soon. IMO attitudes like this are part of the reason for the gender pay gay

100% do it.

You're the best person for the job, and they think that even though they probably know you're TTC.

Even if they didn't know you're not selfish at all. You deserve it, and it's what's best for your baby.

Aria2015 · 08/08/2019 22:16

Take it. If they know about your miscarriage they know that family is part of your plans and they're doing what they should do which is offer you a better role anyway. Like you say you could get a BFP next month or next year - I shouldn't matter either way.

Take it.

Sorry for your loss.
I would however still take the promotion.
I hope this doesn’t upset you, but.
You can’t put your chances on hold
