Watlington childcare

Hi!

Myself and my family are moving to Watlington (Oxfordshire) in September, and are looking for childcare for our 2.5 year old son.

We had naively assumed he would go to the nursery in Watlington, but they don’t have any spaces available and they expect the wait to be about a year!

I’ve also looked for childminders and there don’t seem to be any of those locally either!

I would really like my son to be around other children rather than 121 with a nanny for five days a week.

Has anyone brought children up in Watlington and have any ideas?! Maybe a nursery nearby that I haven’t found yet? Or I hear there is a pre-school in Watlington but can’t find any details for it online - does it still exist?!

Any help would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Sophie

There are loads of nurseries, Childminders and Nannies in Henley and the surrounding villages, I would suggest going on Henley Recommendations FaceBook page or Henley Mums FaceBook page. Good luck!

Hi I live not far from Watlington, it would be worth posting on the Watlington Facebook page and asking, I'm sure I've seen a childminder advertising recently. The page is called the Watlington town notice board.
The pre school is attached to the primary school so the details may be on the school website?
There's also a preschool in Lewknor and Tetsworth.

Thank you! I have already posted on the Watlington Facebook page, and got replies from a few nannies. I might post again and see if anyone is up for a nanny share, as my son is an only child so i’d really like him to spend time with other children!

I think I might be struggling to find info on the pre-school because it’s the summer holidays. Like you say, if it’s attached to the primary school then everyone will be on leave! Bad timing to move to the area! 😂

Thanks so much for your response x

My DC is at Rainbow Day Nursery- assume this is the one you have contacted and is full? Do you drive? Slightly further afield is Lighthouse Nursery in Newington- it's very popular. Welcome to the area and good luck with your move. PM me with any other questions x

That is indeed the one that is full, unfortunately. Looks like such a lovely nursery - love the community feel.

I do drive, but both my husband and I will be going on the M40 towards London to get to work, so I think we need something more in that direction if we are going to use a nursery outside of Watlington. So tricky, as I really don’t want to have to uproot my son again in a few months once a place becomes available at Rainbow Corner!

Thanks for the welcome! Can’t wait to move! x
