Buying a new mattress

We desperately need a new mattress, current one is about 15 years old Blush and came with our old bed frame. It's knackered and is killing our backs and I can't deal with DH moaning!

Having a look at various websites but I'm lost, all the terminology is confusing me greatly, open spring, pocket spring, latex is that not rubber

The only things I do know:

  1. Super king
  2. Firm/extra firm
After that it's a mystery.

What should I be looking for?
We will go and try some out but an idea of what we should be looking to make it a less painful experience would be much appreciated.

Try the IKEA mattress that's about 200 quid for a normal double size (I know you want king). It got rated as good as one 3 times the price and is a Which best buy.

We have this for the spare room which is rarely used, I was concerned it might not be up to daily use by 2 fat folk

I love my Hoevag! Bought a ££££ one and tried it for 4 years before giving in and buying the Ikea one. My backache has completely disappeared!

We got ours in Bensons for Beds. We prefer the ones with springs rather than memory foam but that’s personal preference. Trying them out is your best bet tbh. Ours was over £1000 but had 2600 springs and is so comfy, I love it. We’ll have it for years.

Casper, it's so so comfortable Smile

I have 4/5 bed/mattress shops locally as well as an Ikea I'll need to drag DH round the shops when we next have a day off together, whenever that might be.

Alot of places will do a 40 night trial or similar. There is one that does a 364 day trial but I cant remember. Think its online
