Quiz in 2 hours’ time! I have committed Olympic destinations and locations of countries in Europe to memory. What else might I need to know? Any good facts out there?

My contribution is:

Which 2 tube stations have all vowels in their names?

Answer: South Ealing and Mansion House

Q:In Monopoly, what colour are Bow Street, Marlborough Street and Vine Street properties?

I love a pub quiz. DH and I used to do them 20+ years ago before DC. I'm pleased to say we have produced two DC now in their 20s who are general knowledge fiends and we often win do a pub quiz as a family. Is it a digital speed quiz or pen and paper.?
This week's news is always worth knowing. Always read a newspaper and take note of winners of sporting events, locations in the news, current affairs in general.

MrsMoastyToasty · 07/08/2019 17:51

If it's a question about English football just answer Man United (lol).

CakeNinja · 07/08/2019 17:52

Something to do with a football team where the first 5 letters contain no vowels - Crystal Palace!

EskewedBeef · 07/08/2019 17:58

Bit of an old chestnut, but I like it:

With which country does France share the longest land border?
Brazil.

Witchinghour1 · 07/08/2019 18:17

Great questions and I’ll primed with Man U for every football answer and I love the France border question! I don’t understand it but fingers crossed it comes up! I’ve also swatted up on love island, Green Party leaders ( which I didn’t know) and Wimbledon mixed doubles champions. We always come second from bottom and so we are aiming to get into top 5 this week!

I have a pub quiz book here and dart scores, monopoly property colours, snooker ball values and Scrabble values come up surprisingly often!

I bought it because I was prepping for Mastermind, which is a different kettle of fish altogether Blush

Time and relative dimensions in space = tardis

ScreamingValenta · 07/08/2019 18:29

Have a quick look at number one hits over the past few decades.

Longest name of a hit band without a vowel - Lynyrd Skynrd.

Witchinghour1 · 07/08/2019 18:29

Thank you! What a wonderful word! And apparently, although I’m not sure, dreamt is the only English word to end in mt?!

We always get caught out by bible questions if our friend who is up on it isn't with us.

Witchinghour1 · 07/08/2019 18:51

Good point - I’ll just check how many books in the OT and NT. 66 all together:)

Shortest commercial flight is between westray and papa westray in the Scottish highlands and takes 57 seconds

sanityisamyth · 07/08/2019 18:54

I got a tiebreaker question once in a really rural pub in the middle of the Yorkshire dales.

What does DNA stand for?

Deoxyribonucleic acid

Dad looked proud but shocked. I think he forgot I had a chemistry degree!!!

MPForFlydaleNorth · 07/08/2019 18:56

Oh and one of my favourites is that the only time alcohol can be drunk in the House of Commons is on budget day, when the chancellor is allowed a drink while delivering the budget!

Also, the newest country in the world is South Sudan
