People whose name you dont know

I have one woman i say hello to.She lives beside me.Has done for years.But i dont know her name.

And i can basically cant ask her now.She always says hello dustarr.

Yes you can . Just say 'We've lived next to each other all these years and I've never asked you your name. Aren't I daft!' Followed by (hopefully) mutual laughter etc.

But I'm northern and a teacher so I'm used to the direct approach

I’m very direct too so the comment above is ideal in asking her.

I’d drag along DH and then say “oh, so good to see you! This is my husband Derek.....” and then wait for him to say “sorry, what’s your name?” And then it’s done!

Pop a Christmas card through her door in December and wait to see if she send one back. She's bound to sign it with her name.

Ask her to add you on FB?

Or ask her how she spells her name so you can add her

There's a lady I chat with while waiting for our girls at ballet and tap. I know loads about her and we talk most weeks, I've known her for possibly 4 years and bumped in to her at an event and she introduced me to her DH, at which point I had to awkwardly say 'oh this is Mr Sawyer' and try to get past the fact that I don't know her name! So awkward.
She's really lovely and I feel terrible that I can't remember her name. I know the names of her kids but not her!

I've asked some of my friends (ballet mums) but they don't know either!

I can only hope one day another person will say it and I'll hear.
