How soon can I get a new freezer?

My freezer has just died. I've got enough space to keep some stuff but I need another one ASAP. Where's the best place to go, oh wise ones?

ao.com pretty good for fast delivery and good prices.

or your local FB marketplace for secondhand and if you have suitable transport etc?

GoldenFlaps · 06/08/2019 13:11

Thank you, Buzz. No, it'll need to be delivered as I'm disabled.

You can probably get one from AO.com or Curry's delivered tomorrow.

People might say John Lewis, but any time I've needed new white goods urgently, their delivery time has been about a week.

I've never had any issues from Currys or AO, and have never used JL due to aforementioned timescales issues. Friend who bought a very expensive fridge freezer from John Lewis had no end of problems with delivery including them dropping the first one off the truck when they tried to deliver it.

Just remember that once its delivered you usually cant switch it on for at least 4 hours to let the coolant settle.

That sounds like a nightmare, Barbara Shock

I've seen a Beko one. Is that a good make?

Your best bet might be to see if you can find a local independent appliance retailer. I have one near me and they have delivered (and installed) appliances that they have in stock the same day

Another vote here for AO.com prompt delivery and very good customer service. Plus if you don't already use a cash back site like topcashback I would recommend using them too so you get a nice little chunk of money back once the freezer has been purchased.Grin

Sorry should have said you might be able to find one by asking on a local Facebook page say?

GoldenFlaps · 06/08/2019 13:22

Argh, I've found one that is supposed to fit into a kitchen but it needs to be free standing - will I be able to use it without a fancy kitchen door stuck to the front?

No, it'll need to be delivered as I'm disabled.

They also offer extra to install and set up new appliances, and remove old ones for recycling + all the packaging. I think I paid around £30 for the lot which I thought was good value.
