Cockroaches in the garden .... in Scotland ?!

Went out to take rubbish to bins just now and cockroach about 3-4 inches behind them . No others about but surely where’s the one he’ll have a family ?! ... can they get in the house ?? Should I buy a blowtorch ?!!
