Hi I was hoping for some ideas on what would be your ‘must do’ for those of you who have visited Kefalonia. I’m only going for a week and wanted to make the most of it. Should add I love a boat trip. Thank you

We love visiting the North, Fiskardo and Assos. We would stay there but cant afford it. My husband did a diving boat trip there with the museum but its was eons ago (15 years probably) so I dont know if they still run there

We hired a little boat from Boulevard Boat Hire, Agia Efimia. Took it out for the day around the little bays. We did that in 2016, so hopefully they are still there.

Love Kefalonia!

If you are near Xi beach and hungry, we enjoyed our meal at the little taverna near Cephalonia Palace Hotel on opposite side of the road.

Fiskardo is lovely but very touristy. You can hire boats from lots of places around the island

There are loads of good beaches and also tiny off the beaten track ones with no facilities but very private. We usually do a mixture of both.

We are there for a week in September and we are staying in the South. We might not bother going to the North this time and just stick to places within an hours drive.

It's a beautiful place so you'll have a great time

You need to go to:

The underground lake.
Myrtos beach (but be wary of swimming there as the currents are strong).
Argostoli harbour where the fishing boats come in and look for the turtles! Honestly sitting on the harbour edge with my feet in the water and watching turtles swim beneath them was one of the absolute highlights for me.
Take a boat trip from Fiskardo to Ithaca.
Try to find a boat trip that offers swim stops - I love swimming from the boat in that sea.

It's also very easy to hire your own boat which is what we do. Then you can stop wherever you want and swim

Hi there.
I just got back from Kefalonia! And I love the island! Your defo need to go to Argostoli and by the harbour you will find a glass bottom boat which takes you on on a fun filled trip for the day. Captain Makis is in charge and all the staff speak English, the drinks are cheap and the food is fab. While you in the harbour make sure you look out for Argostoli turtles! All the beaches are amazing but if you go to Fiskardo there is a tiny beach with an olive tree on it and it's awesome! Make sure you pick a local buds route/times, this is the best way to travel on the island. Have fun and say hi to Makis, Tim and Gaynor on the glass bottom boat! Xx

I've been to Skala twice so can recommend the offroad "safari". I can't remember the name of the company but they're based in the centre of the town and you drive yourself in dune buggies up into the hills above to the old town.

Went to Kefalonia last Oct with just my friends and no kids. We drove up to fiskardo and back down again and we stayed very near argostoli. You can't really go wrong anywhere. The Mellisani Cave is a must see. It's so beautiful. And if you want an amazing boat trip book with Petros and George on the Queen Bee (they have a Facebook page). Their mum cooks the food which is delicious and they take you to lots of beautiful coves and drop offs for swims. The unlimited wine is also included haha. Probably the absolute highlight of our trip

Anti Samos beach, near Sami is beautiful.

Melissani lake

Drogorati caves

Fiskado for a day trip

Oskars just outside Argostoli/Lassi is a fab night out with Greek dancing.

Take the ferry from Argostoli to Xi beach

We absolutely love Kefalonia - very jealous of you as we haven't been in years!
