Hi - ok not sure what is reasonable here so advice please. On hols with DH and 2DS. Glamping for first time , boys having great time , nice accom and great view in UK. This morning the electric goes off.DH has put too many of the tents appliances on, but instead of tripping the electrics- the outside electric supply box is frazzled. So as tripping system failed the owners go to electrician with electric Box from outside supply who says either system has been overloaded or faulty electrics used. Owners blaming us saying they saw straighteners in tent which may have done it. I haven’t washed my hair for two days never mind straightening it- but we have had a couple of phone chargers on. Thing is it has cost them £75 for replacement outside supply box and they want us to pay £50 towards it. My argument is that it is unclear what caused the electric problem. They had an electric safety check on site 4 months ago but some of the appliances are a bit ropey- and they could still become faulty after usage.Feeling like this is putting a dampener on the holiday as owners seem quite unreasonable and inflexible in their view of the situation. But I haven’t really experienced this before so not sure if I should just suck it up and pay the money.????

When stuff goes wrong, it is up to the owners to fix it, just like a landlord has to pay for repairs if something breaks in the house they're renting out. The owners will have insurance, it is THEIR responsibility to ensure the safety and comfort of their guests. Trying to make you pay is bloody outrageous!
