How much pasta for 25 people?

10 adults and 15 kids. We are serving charcuterie, salad and lamb chops first and then pasta and baked salmon for mains. How much pasta should I make? Is it the usual 75g per head according to pack instructions or less? Pasta will be in a tomatoe sauce with lamb mince.

Thanks in advance!

P.s. please don't question the choice of menu. This is what we are going ahead with after getting everyone's opinion

I think I'd do 50g per person. Leftovers can always be eaten for lunches.

I do tend to over feed though 😂

I tend to do 2-3oz a person for a main course. That's 56-85g per person.

Personally I would stick with 75g a person. Those who eat more will eat a little more and those with smaller appetites will balance out.

I think I eat a lot of pasta now. Blush

Sorry I've just seen there's 15 kids. Do 75g per adult and 45-50g per child depending on age of them (obviously 12 year olds are different to 5 year olds.)

Thanks. I'll do the 75g per person then. I was worried that might not be enough.

I cook 50g raw weight pasta. So, by my calculations, that's 1.25kg raw weight pasta. Are you going to cook that before hand and add it into the rest of the ingredients ?

Do you have a large pan to cook 25 portions of past in ?

Ironfloor269 · 03/08/2019 19:08

Thanks, @lolasmiles. I'll keep that in mind.

Corrections: 50g raw weight pasta per person is what I cook. 25 x 50 = 1,250.

Just cook what I'd cook for 4 people! Grin

Sorry can't help but good luck with your meal and better to have leftovers that you eat up than hungry guests

NotYourHolidayDick · 03/08/2019 19:14

Christ you all eat small portions.

But I do tend to massively over cater 🙈

I'd buy one of those 3kg sacks and do it all.

TinyMystery · 03/08/2019 19:16

😂 I would have said 100g per person. Which on reflection probably is too much!

OneThreadOnly0101 · 03/08/2019 19:17

I agree, you all eat like mice 😂. I do 100g per person.

Rockbird · 03/08/2019 19:18

Came to say exactly what Needcoffee said Grin

ItProtectsMyHead · 03/08/2019 19:27

I tend to do 75g raw pasta per adult, 100g if we're particularly hungry. 50g might be about right for a child though, maybe?

I no you said no qu’s about menu but is this one meal?
Lamb chops for starter followed my lamb pasta with salmon for main?

AtleastitsnotMonday · 03/08/2019 20:43

know

ljbrad · 04/08/2019 22:46

On scout camp I would cook about 2.5 kilos for 25 teenagers. I would suggest serving your sauce separate - serves better for fussy eaters and it's a lot better to waste just pasta than sauce

CrispbuttyNo1 · 04/08/2019 22:48

I would cook a 2kg bag and use any leftovers for pasta salad the next day. Refresh it with boiling water and it will be fine. I'm a chef and a 3kg bag is always plenty for 30 people.

Crunchymum · 04/08/2019 22:50

I too am intrigued by the menu. Lamb chops and lamb pasta with salmon??? Shock
