Best tortoise name ever!

Someone found a tortoise in the village and posted a photo on the village Facebook page. No takers. Then a few days later she tried again - and there was a joyous reply: "IT'S BALDRICK!" together with a photo of the owner with said Baldrick, a known escapee who is apparently a bit of a digger. Baldrick is now safely home, hopefully for keeps, and I just think that he has the best tortoise name ever.

Haha love this! Fantastic name for a tortoise, especially a naughty one.

BentNeckLady · 03/08/2019 12:14

I met one called Vernon once. I thought that was fabulous 😂

🤣 lovely name.

They should buy a GPS tag.

Ursaminor · 03/08/2019 13:48

Loving the other names, and the GPS tag is an excellent idea!

I think Shelley would be a good really cheesy name

Sexnotgender · 03/08/2019 15:52

There’s a greyhound on a group I’m on called Indiana Bones.

TixieLix · 03/08/2019 15:53

When I was a child we had three tortoises - Fred, Julie, and Engelbert Humperdink. I've no idea why my mother lumbered the smallest one with that name!

Ursaminor · 03/08/2019 16:30

Shelley! Grin

I am desperate to get a tortoise and I have his name chosen and ready. Sherlock (in honour of Benedict). And if I had a second it would have to be Moriarty Smile

ScrubsandBubs · 03/08/2019 19:58

My tortoise as a child was called Shelley Smile

Usain Bolt!

My old neighbours tortoise was called James. We had very thin walls and I thought James was a reclusive husband or son until she asked if we could look after Names while she went on holiday then all was revealed.

Lllot5 · 03/08/2019 20:18

My neighbour’s tortoise was flash.
He was massive and about 20 years old I think.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/08/2019 20:19

My tortoise was named Speedy

Catcrazy008 · 03/08/2019 20:25

If I ever had a tortoise I would HAVE to name it esio trot 🙂

ContessaLovesTheSunshine · 03/08/2019 20:27

We had a tortoise when I was a teen - I called him Om. I was the only one in our family who understood why - they were very trusting sorts, now I come to think of it Grin

DeliaSmythe · 03/08/2019 20:29

@Catcrazy008 we have an Esio Trot - she's only about 18 months old so still pretty tiny but lovely!

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 03/08/2019 20:30

Our tortoise is called Clifford. He's adorable.

Ursaminor · 03/08/2019 21:18

There's something in the air about tortoises today - just spotted this on the BBC news: "Giant tortoise in world's slowest police chase"
