Packing for holiday - name one thing I’ve probably forgotten

BasinHaircut · 03/08/2019 10:28

Going away next weekend and I’m writing my list for packing. I have the following subcategories:

Clothes day
Clothes night
Underwear
Swimwear
Toiletries
Make up
Hair stuff
Medication
Toys and stuff for DS
Book

What have I forgotten?

Travel insurance and EHIC. Card if you stay in the EU

MuttsNutts · 03/08/2019 15:27

Locks for cases. I’m always running around just before we go trying to find them!

Ellmau · 03/08/2019 15:31

Shoes if not included in clothes
Slippers or similar to wear in hotel room/accommodation
Details for return journey
Any devices you might want - phone, camera, laptop/ipad, kindle delete as appropriate, with chargers, cables and if overseas the correct converters
Reusable water bottle - handy even if sitting by pool all day
If flying, sweets for flight air pressure

Your own towels if SC and not included

Double check passports are all in date

A bit of cash

Have a great time!

Longdistance · 03/08/2019 15:48

Imodium 💩

Fettuccinecarbonara · 03/08/2019 15:51

Another pair of shoes

Knittingnanny · 03/08/2019 15:55

If you are self catering or in a caravan etc, take an old towel for a bath mat, I used to get fed up of cold wet floors getting out of showers
Pack of cards , puzzle book for delayed anything

sandybayley · 03/08/2019 16:00

@Longdistance - I'm the opposite. Need to pack some prunes and prune juice!

Graphista · 03/08/2019 17:04

2 whole categories - first aid & technology!

First aid - painkillers, preferred indigestion/upset tummy remedies (yes can buy there but might struggle to get your favourites/ones that don't contraindicate with other meds), aloe gel (burns, scalds, scraped knees, insect bites and stings), lavender oil (see aloe), after sun, eucalyptus oil (stuffy noses from recycled air on plane or hayfever, blocked ears from pressure on plane, can be helpful for some asthma sufferers), elastoplasts, tubigrips, bandages, steristrips & other dressing materials (yes you can buy them there but here you know where to get the ones you like cheapest), tweezers, nail scissors (if you're checking baggage), antiseptic, thermometer, contraception.

Phones, Chargers, adapters, I'd advise these days also taking a multiplug extension like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eurosonic-Way-Extension-Metre-Cable/dp/B0060QQ3PE/ref=ascdff_B0060QQ3PE/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=218843350928&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7993888567260140491&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007340&hvtargid=pla-420088672256&psc=1

As it means needing fewer uk to foreign country adapters to plug all your tech into

and other tech peripherals (tablet stands etc)

DotBall · 03/08/2019 17:06

Download Triplist app. I use it every time I go away.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 03/08/2019 17:15

I'm on holiday and I forgot ice cube bags and nail clippers.

DropZoneOne · 03/08/2019 17:22

Best buy this year was a 4-usb charger - so just needed one EU adaptor on the end and it charged all the tech.

Knittingnanny · 03/08/2019 17:23

By the way, packing cubes ( Amazon) has changed my holiday packing! Wish they had been around when I was packing for 2 adults and 3 children

DropZoneOne · 03/08/2019 17:27

Clothes pegs for hanging stuff over those little lines in hotels, extra hangers (there's never enough).

Guacamowle · 03/08/2019 18:04

Corkscrew - we have half a dozen now, all bought in various holiday destinations Hmm

BasinHaircut · 03/08/2019 19:43

Kevin Grin

Thanks all, keep em coming!

Salted peanuts - only KP for us and you can’t buy them abroad.

Sun lounger pegs

Cheap Flip flops - can be used in bathrooms, swimming pools, beach etc.
WiFi dongle - very handy for a local Sim
Snorkel
Pool toys
Deck of cards
Travel insurance details
Details/map of how to get from airport (or whatever) to destination
Antibacterial gel or wipes
Face cream
Lip balm
After sun
Antihistamines
Refillable water bottle

wishingyouluck · 03/08/2019 19:54

I literally always forget my razor and jewellery!

BettyStogs · 03/08/2019 19:59

Last time we took DS's swimming trunks but forgot goggles which he hates swimming without

BasinHaircut · 04/08/2019 07:47

Some absolute essentials here that I would have forgotten! Goggles! Yes!

So glad I started this thread

hopeishere · 04/08/2019 09:15
