Gah, coldsores!

Had a horrendous outbreak yesterday, the whole of my top lip is a mess. I managed to get some acyclovir tablets this morning which seem to have stopped the spread and dried them up but I know the scabs are imminent. I've got a cocktail party tomorrow night, is there anything I can do to reduce scabbiness?

Tomorrow night is rather soon, but if you get cold sores frequently, I can't recommend Lysene enough. Just from Holland and Barratt. It's amazing.

I don't get them frequently, maybe twice a year! I'll look into lysine though, is it a preventative?

I know how you feel, what dose are you on?
With Aciclov you need high dose early on - 1-2 grams worth. That will really help kill it.

OP, I feel your pain, I don’t think you’ll be able to do much unfortunately by tomorrow, I’d say maybe try to keep them moisturised, use something like coconut oil on the sores, so they don’t dry up and do the crack and bleed thing.
Awful things

Apparently the sappy things work wonders as well, but they’re really expensive.you used to be able to get them cheap, but not anymore.

I got 400mg tablets this morning, the pharmacist told me to take three a day.

I second Lysine tablets. They're a god send. As soon as you think you're getting one, take a tablet and it'll never appear. I suffered badly my whole life with them until 10 years ago when someone introduced me to them. I've never one since.

The dose has definitely helped, this morning I looked like I'd been punched in the face but it's subsided now.

I've got some coconut oil Presea,' I'll try that Smile
