Does anyone remember this old thread?

Something that happened the other day reminded me of an old thread from a few years ago.

The OP had provided a link to a twitter account that if I remember correctly had a photo of a man on the account photo. He would tweet about a private girls school and there was a link on his twitter profile to the school. I think one of the posters on here discovered that the school was made up.

The website was strange though and mostly had photos of young girls in school uniform. I think a few people tweeted him and he then deleted his profile and shortly after the website disappeared.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?!

I’m sure that someone linked to google maps aerial view to prove that something (tennis court/outdoor swimming pool ???) didn’t exist at the location the school claimed to be and local mumsnetters said it was a private house

Yes, that rings a bell. It was all very odd and confusing at the time and I don't know what the conclusion was.

Wasn't there a seemingly legit website for the school but it didn't actually exist?

If I recall a MN explained that the website was a front for a darker website that you had to possess certain keys of info to access.

Yes, I think that’s right. It was all very weird. I remember checking the thread all the time to see if there were any more updates.

I remember the website gave detailed descriptions about the girls uniform and sports wear and how they had to wear their hair.

Can anyone find the thread? Or was it posted on chat? Didn’t he even come on the thread to defend himself? Or am I imagining that part?

I haven’t been able to find the thread Blue. I don’t think he came on here to defend himself but I’m sure there was some talk going on over on twitter. I think he became suspicious because of all the hits the webpage was getting and tried to make out the school was real. Something like that. I wish I could read it again.

I can not for the life of me remember what the name of the made up school was though.

Wychwood is a real school I think.

It's on Google maps so I think it's real .

I'm desperate to know the name of the made up school though.

IIRC the website was deleted in the end. There was also a thread the student room about it.

And with all that outside time and sport the students would have literally no time left to do anything else IIRC 😂

Well it was all very strange and as the poster above mentions, the website may have be linked to some more sinister sites.
