It’s tomorrow and I still haven’t figured out what to get him! I passed on my ideas to DM, Dsis and his brothers. Was getting on MP3 player as he wanted headphones like daddy to listen to music but realised too late we’d need a pc to be able to put music on it so that’s a no go...
I’m out of ideas. He’d love a playhouse type swing thing, but I think it’d cause arguments when he won’t let the others on. He has a bike/ scooter etc. Likes to be active. Likes action figures by has plenty. Don’t want him on screens really. Any ideas?

Football goals for the garden (get good quality like Samba)
Trampoline

InDubiousBattle · 02/08/2019 08:36

Lego? I know you don't want screens but my 5 year old loves his sisters kiddizoom camera.

Nordicwannabe · 02/08/2019 08:43

Just a normal CD player is nice for this age.

Or his own camera (doesn't need to be a kiddy one, just a normal compact in a colour he likes)

Snap circuits is great

. He’d love a playhouse type swing thing, but I think it’d cause arguments when he won’t let the others on

Get him the swing and make sure he does share with others.

Nordicwannabe · 02/08/2019 08:46

Cross Post dubiousbattle Grin Do you find there's any advantage to the kiddizoom? You can get a normal compact cheaper.

CodenameVillanelle · 02/08/2019 08:46

You could get him an iPod touch and use a streaming service for music but they are expensive new. Too late to get a used one from eBay I guess!

Howmanysleepsnow · 02/08/2019 08:46

We have goals already, and not enough space ta trampoline. He has/ had a Kidizoom watch (as close to a screen as we get) but it seems to have stopped charging as of yesterday. Not sure replacing a broken thing is much of a present though. Lego is a safe bet but seems to get built once then forgotten.

Camera is a possibility, as is CD player (though not sure how long before the cds would be scratched!).

Hi. These are things I have gotten 6 year olds

Arts and crafts collection
Marvel books collection
Any book set
Roller skates
Heelys
Play doh kit
Action figures
Personalised bean bag

Hope you find something!

Howmanysleepsnow · 02/08/2019 08:52

Would definitely need the more robust Kidizoom vs normal camera as he’s quite... heavy handed

We got DD some roller skates and she loves them (and getting quite fast!)

DD1 got a pogo stick from my parents for hers... Created a lot of amusement.

stayfit · 02/08/2019 08:59

A watch? This age my son learnt to read time and was v excited to have his own. You also have a v tech one with camera and games

hidinginthenightgarden · 02/08/2019 09:00

Rather than a CD player, I would get him an echo dot.
My DS has one. It plays audio books to him at night and occasionally he plays music on it. Never abuses it or plays it too loud and you don't have to spend money on CD's that get scratched.

stayfit · 02/08/2019 09:01

Oh just seem to have the watch ignore my post

Chilledout11 · 02/08/2019 09:04

Roblox figures
Hot wheels
Football
Art - scratch art or clay sets
Magic sets
Anything by imaginext is a winner here

Jamhandprints · 02/08/2019 09:06

Echo for is a good idea, my kids love our Alexa, they put on music to dance to, play maths games and constantly set timers and alarms!
Or skates or stilts or a pogo stick?
Science kit, magic kit or a dinosaur dig kit?

Jamhandprints · 02/08/2019 09:06

Echo dot. Also you can plug headphones into it.

Howmanysleepsnow · 02/08/2019 09:30

I can’t get the echo dots to work! Bought 2 for dc12 and dc13 for Christmas but can’t get the app to download on my phone or theirs.

A kids Fitbit? That's what my nearly 6 year old is looking for for Christmas

Chilledout11 · 02/08/2019 09:56

Kids fit bit is a great idea.
