Aldi Delivery WTF?

hidinginthenightgarden · 02/08/2019 07:58

Just reading that Aldi have started to do deliveries but not in the same way every other supermarket does! Instead they will literally be posting it to you. This means you don't get a slot, you have to wait in all day for your shopping to arrive and during peak times, you might not even be told what day it is coming!
Anyone planning to give it a go?

Where did you hear that?
As far as I am aware, they only stuff they deliver is some of their 'special buy' items, and certain alcohol. Which do get sent through royal mail or a courier.

hidinginthenightgarden · 02/08/2019 08:05

DH said a colleague of his had a delivery.
He seems to think it was an actual grocery shop.

Perhaps he is mistaken.

PigletJohn · 02/08/2019 08:24

Where did you read it? Post the link please.

hidinginthenightgarden · 02/08/2019 08:27

I didn't read it Piglet, DH told me and I looked online and it said delivery over £20. Read all the info on it and no where does it say you cannot get groceries delivered.

That said, I just tried to add stuf to a basket and can't. I think my DH is spreading fake news!

It’s not for food 😂 it’s their special buys and wine etc.

clottedcreamoverjam · 02/08/2019 08:28

I got stuff delivered but it takes a long time so it was a few big bits and some cans and baby food and drink bottles.
More like amazon but slower

FiveLittlePigs · 02/08/2019 08:29

Aldi only delivers wine etc and their special buys. Not groceries.

EssentialHummus · 02/08/2019 08:29

Special buys I think. Always arrived fine here, via Hermes.

TheInvestigator · 02/08/2019 08:30

The stuff also deliver is the same as anything else you'd order online. Home, garden, DIY etc. It's like ordering a tool set online; it just comes in the post.

PurplePuffinPicker · 02/08/2019 08:39

It wouldn't work, how would they deal with frozen and chilled items?

KenAdams · 02/08/2019 08:43

I've ordered skincare from there which was posted to me. Don't think they offer the same service with groceries.

SeeSomethingSaySomething · 02/08/2019 08:47

It’s not groceries, it’s all their other stuff, not just special buys.

It’s like amazon 3-5 days delivery.

You get a time slot on the day.

It’s all very clearly explained on the website.

7sunnysundays · 02/08/2019 08:49

🙈 fail OP

Booboo66 · 02/08/2019 09:03

They deliver special buys, alcohol etc. Yes it is posted (couriered) the same way these items are if you were to order them from amazon for example.

hidinginthenightgarden · 02/08/2019 09:04

That was my issue purplepuffin! It seems like an awful system - turns out it is just like online shopping for non grocery. Doh!

I had stuff delivered. It’s mainly none food items. We get our organic wines from Aldi delivered. They are very good, good price and free delivery.

Ilovesweatybollocks · 02/08/2019 11:15

Aldi is only a five minute walk from our house so I don't think I'll bother Grin

DontCallMeShitley · 02/08/2019 11:27

I almost bought a cat fountain from them online. There was no option to buy groceries.

IAskTooManyQuestions · 02/08/2019 12:02

A simple google would clear up the majority of questions

Gingernaut · 02/08/2019 12:04

They deliver the 'aisle of random' stuff.

Not food.

Cohle · 02/08/2019 12:19

This is hilarious Grin

TheHobbitMum · 02/08/2019 12:22

I'm an aldi manager, the only delivery's are special buys. Id be sat in a corner rocking of they did home delivery's of food Grin

KUGA · 02/08/2019 12:48

I don't know why they bother.

UserNameDeletedShortly · 02/08/2019 12:54

My Aldi items are delivered by my Hermes delivery lady.
