Is there any way around this? I get a verification code sent to my email but I can't input it because when I click on the link, Facebook insists I put my mobile phone number in first. I don't want them to have my number. Is there any way around this?

Is that new, I didn't have to give a number to make an account

Can you put random numbers in?

BikeRunSki · 01/08/2019 20:07

Can you make one up?

QuckTheDuck · 01/08/2019 20:17

It is for your own security though?

icelollycraving · 01/08/2019 20:19

Why not add your number? You can amend so no one sees it.

MILlovesBegonias · 01/08/2019 20:49

It doesn't accept random crap & it expects you to input a code it sends you - so it verifies the no. is genuine. I can't get past this at all. I'm very private with my data & I don't want them to have my number.

If you're very private with your data then maybe FB isn't for you Grin

icelollycraving · 01/08/2019 20:53

No account for you then.

IcaMorgan · 01/08/2019 21:07

You could always get a PAYG SIM card just for things like that

SouthernComforts · 01/08/2019 21:11

If you're very private with your data then Facebook ain't for you Grin

You used to be able to remove your number after you’ve signed up but only on a computer not a mobile device.

Mum2jenny · 01/08/2019 21:16

Get a SIM card at a supermarket, put it in your phone, use it verify your account then bin it.

NoLeopard · 01/08/2019 21:17

What if you don't have a mobile? Can you set it up on a computer?

Who doesn’t have a mobile these days?

NoLeopard · 01/08/2019 21:20

My mum. She has a facebook account though

icelollycraving · 01/08/2019 21:21

Really? I think I’ve always had to link to a mobile.

lubeybooby · 01/08/2019 21:21

get a cheapo burner phone

NoLeopard · 01/08/2019 21:23

I wonder if things have changed. I've never entered any details apart from email address to fb.

icelollycraving · 01/08/2019 21:24

Maybe because I use my phone to browse. In fact my phone has everything in it.
