Countries where you can flush loo paper?

As someone who came to travelling quite late in life, not flushing the loo roll is a bit of a new one on me. Has there been a MN debate on this yet? Not talking wees obviously.

Use as normal, put in bin and not think about it? Bum shower after and pat dry with paper? Cannot bring self to empty bin as frequently as would like due to environmental loathing of plastic bags but surely in hot climate will become whiffy?

Shall I just unclunch? So to speak Grin Have already smacked head on sink doing bumshower so not sure can keep it up.

Wash with a bottle over the toilet. Dry on a towel?

Mainly Greece isn't it?

I live in China and we don't flush paper down the loo here - paper goes in bin and does not seem to be whiffy, but perhaps have become desensitised to smell? We have small pedal bins next to the loo.
It's quite common in SE Asia not to put paper down the loo.

Are you on holiday? Bin emptying is probably not your concern if so? You really cant flush paper in countries where the system is not set up for it so it seems your two options would be as you have described.

In Turkey you can not flush the paper. But there is a small pipe that comes out from the back rim of the bowl. By the side of the loo is a small tap to turn it on. Voila! You wash your bum & the only loo roll that goes in the bin has either water (from drying your bum) or a bit of wee if you only have a pee.

Wipe with a blob of aloe Vera gel on loo roll. Pat dry with loo roll. Might stop any smell as is naturally antibacterial.

Or get some nappy san and wipe using a set of cloths, sluice under flush and put into nappy san bucket. Then wash as you would washable nappies.

I've not been responsible for the bin emptying bit! But yes even recently in Seville I cam across loos where loo paper could not be flushed.

I guess I'd go with daily bin emptying. Biodegradable liners? Dog poo bags?

When I lived in inland Spain we had the equivalent of a septic tank and flushing paper was a total no, no. It's hard to get used to but not a problem. We always used fragranced nappy sacks and had a bin in every loo, emptied daily.

I'm worried I'm going to flush paper by force of habit and flood the village. And since most of them came out to peer at us when we arrived they'd definitely know whodunit.

Make yourself a sign where you will see it! Grin

Put the loo roll just out of reach so when you have to get up to reach it will make you think.

Maybe use a rubber glove on your hand to wash and wipe and then disinfect the glove with Dettol or the equivalent.
