...and so every day during August I will be bringing you some photos of what the Playmolanders are getting up to this summer.

Holidaymakers are on the ferry to the Isle of Browne

I think ds will be signing up to lots of societies (music and sailing), but doing moderate drinking (mostly beer).

Life, where did your brother go to uni?

Will they have a summer fete? In our village they're putting up the bunting, cakes have been baked, and the band have been practicing. I think there'll be a maypole too and the little girls will be dancing round it Night time there'll be a disco, finishing at 10.00. Then peace til next year. We call it the Fete worse than Death

Hey! Both my late husband and his father were aero.engineers and worked all over the world and my 17yr old niece in the US has done a taster and seems interested in taking it further too..travelling to great places and with the money to enjoy it. .Nice life.

I hadn't thought of a fête! Although I play in a local wind band and do several fêtes over the summer (ds plays too, he is their drummer), and I always refer to them as fêtes worse than death!

I've lived in this village for quite a few years now and suffered the sounds of the Fete worse than Death for all of them The same old CD of the same old "jolly" songs comes out each time. Honestly,it's so bad it's actually quite charming. Now that's brain washing for you!

Ah, ds will be going to Southampton.

A Playmo fête might be good though at some point.

So many mumsnetters seem to have kids bound for Southampton! Just waiting on the accommodation, apparently they are notoriously slow.

It's a great university, I'm sure your DS will have a good time there. Good subject he's chosen too! 🙂

Think DS's accommodation took a couple of weeks to be confirmed but this is a few years ago, so maybe things have changed.

Ds is sharing a flat with a friend if they can find one! But has applied for halls too, so will have somewhere to live whatever happens.

Today Julia is relaxing in a hammock at the beach, when Chester arrives on his quad bike.

Chester goes surfing while Julia eats an ice cream and listens to the radio.

Eden and India are out in their boat with their children. India is looking to see what is in the cool box. Poppy is eating an apple, while Fletcher is about to go snorkelling.

India thinks it's time for the flask of tea, and Poppy is doing a bit of sunbathing on the boat.

Jonty arrives at the beach in his convertible, while Tamsin is on a scooter.

Grumpy grandad ( why do men hate going in the attic????? I can’t manoeuvre the steps any more) has got the PlayMobil out of the attic ready for grandchildren arriving on Saturday. Forgot we had the ambulance as well.

Yes! I’m really quite excited. I may be more excited than the children.

I have memories of my youngest son ( 27) screwing up pieces of toilet paper and scattering them around the house, then going around with the PlayMobil dust cart to collect it all.
I really miss those days. I maybe looking back with rose tinted spectacles but they really were my best years ( apart from the evil emotionally abusive exh that is)

I know what you mean, Knitting! I also loved the years when ds played with his Playmobil.
