...and so every day during August I will be bringing you some photos of what the Playmolanders are getting up to this summer.

Holidaymakers are on the ferry to the Isle of Browne

They head for the shore, where Moses and Jethro are waiting with medical assistance should it be needed.

I love this thread!

Am I a very bad mother to admit that my DC never had Playmobil?!!! 😮
To be fair, they were never interested in it, even when they had the opportunity to play with it.

Might have to buy some and keep for me future GC...

Their next callout is to a group of people adrift in a life raft.

Meanwhile, Clive is out in the large rescue boat with Dale the diver, looking for a missing person.

And Shaun searches closer to the shore, while Roger the coastguard watches from the quayside.

Loving your work OP. your storytelling has an old fashioned Ladybird book feel to it. I'm feeling very nostalgic reading your posts! Grin

SoMuchToBits · 12/08/2019 12:04

Thanks, Little! Yes, I think I probably have an old-fashioned approach to a lot of things in life! I'm definitely not what you would call trendy...

I’m 62 x is it really sad that this is the first thread I read when I log into Mumsnet? 10 days til my overseas grandchildren arrive but might send my husband up in the attic tonight so I can sort it all out, ie play with it. I’ve just found a tiny saucer at the bottom of my letter rack that’s been there since my eldest grandson played with it about 4 years ago!

SoMuchToBits · 12/08/2019 12:51

Getting the Playmo out of the attic sounds like a good plan, Knitting. Which sets do you have?

The maritime rescue pics are my absolute favourite so far.

Wow things are hotting up in Playmoland with people stranded in life rafts and now a missing person Shock Will a helicopter be deployed to help with the search?

SoMuchToBits · 12/08/2019 16:06

No because we never got the helicopter that went with the coastguard theme I've just heard from the coastguard that the missing person has been located safe and well on the beach. Wink

OP, I am torn between delighted and horrendously jealous! I consider myself the Queen of Playmobil, with the world's biggest collection. I feel my nose quite put out of joint!

Honestly, it's brilliant stuff! I elbow the children aside to get to it, because I know how to play with it 'properly'!

SoMuchToBits · 12/08/2019 16:47

I think I'm lucky Furry, because ds collected Playmobil for ages. He always asked for it for birthday/Christmas (amongst other things) and saved his pocket money to spend on Playmobil. So we have loads, and I have added to it a bit for Royal weddings/advent calendar/summer holidays.

Also, ds used to make some really good scenes! I miss the days when he played with Playmo!

And yes, I agree Playmobil is brilliant stuff. Just wish Hans Beck had invented it a few years earlier, so it had been around during my childhood.

In Eastgate Park, Sergei, Jesse, Janice and Martina are off to the tennis court for a game of mixed doubles.

Later, Janice still has lots of energy so is off for a run, while Hilary sets off on a hike. Faye who is passing by on her way to meet a friend for a spot of shopping, thinks they are bonkers getting all hot and sweaty when they could be sitting in a nice café.

We have 1990’s sets, camper van ( my favourite) , police boat, dustcart, plus lots of odd bits mainly bikes, horses etc. I made a tent to go with the camping stuff but that seems to have gone awol! Think they’ve been having a secret life in the attic. I’ve kept the original boxes but they are looking bit battered!

SoMuchToBits · 13/08/2019 09:17

Larry and Cyprian are off to meet friends for a game of basketball.

I have our original boxes in the loft too, Knitting. When ds was younger I thought we might eventually sell the Playmo on eBay when he grew out of it, but I don't think I can part with it now!

When I downsized I asked my adult sons what they would like me to keep
PlayMobil
Duplo
Lego bricks (they were not fussed about keeping the expensive sets!!! So I rebuilt them and sold them)
Fisher price circus train , garage and ferry boat
