Mine goes to the gym three nights per weeks which I find a bit excessive as he works v long hours also

Depends. when we were childless 3 nights a week would have been nothing.

When we had smallies, we both pretty much stopped (did a bit of gym and exercise but really tried to fit it around stuff - we both worked, we both travelled for work, our focus was on our children)

When they got older he went back to his sport but also included the children as much as possible.

Right now I have older teens and he is off for 5 days on a course for his sport. I don't mind ... well actually I do wish he could spend the same time prioritising and organising a holiday for us but I understand how stress relieving this trip is for him.

Is it that 3 nights a week you are left as a solo parent of small children? I can sympathise with that. Or is it that 3 nights a week he is gone and you don't see him much the other 4 nights either?

My DH doesn’t have any hobbies so none. But, he is an academic so he works a lot. If he has any free time he will work.

DH goes to the gym every single day. He's away for 2.5-3 hours on work days (shift work so not always the same times) sometimes he goes twice a day. He also plays football once a week, It sometimes feels like I rarely see him Hmm and he wonders why we don't have children

I wouldn't mind 3x a week. Depends how long he's gone for?

DP goes to the gym after DC are in bed, will alternate days with me for the gym if we need to go earlier for some reason.

None unless you count the occasional stint on the PS.
I go out 1x a week though for my hobby (photography) and am always messing about with it in the house and when we go on daytrips. I also do colouring and sewing too so there's loads of my stuff littering the surfaces in the living room and dining room.

Hockey practice for 2 hours once a week and a bike ride for 3 hours on a Sunday.

Pre-DC he had hockey practice and was out most of Saturday playing a hockey match.

I don’t think the gym three time a week is terribly excessive, assuming you also get the same opportunity for “free time” if you want it?

DO and I have many of the same hobbies so it works quite well in that respect, but I’m also not fussed about him going off and doing his own thing as and when because I’ve got plenty of my own stuff to be getting in with when he does. But we don’t have DC, and I’m not left holding the baby whilst he has fun, which I think is really what matters.
