Week-old insect bite

Anyone ever had a bite that has lasted this long? It's not super itchy, but the surface is flat and dry/rough and just seems to be getting wider.

I tried to add a pic but it won't let me...

Trying again with a cropped pic. Excuse the leg fur.

Bites last for weeks on me. Really annoying. Antihistamine tablets ease the itching and I end up taking one a day all summer.

@llangennith So glad it's not uncommon, but you have my sympathy. Bugs can bugger off. Grin

I'm fair skinned and I thought that was why I react so badly but my youngest (adult) DD is a mini-me and gets bitten but her bites don't itch or swell. So unfair!!!

PunkTrumpet · 31/07/2019 23:27

Apparently it's like an allergic reaction - some people are being bitten and don't react, while others (like me) look well and truly munched on. DH didn't believe our cat had fleas for weeks because he never got any marks, and I was covered in them!

I have a juicy one from last week, they get bigger and redder and eventually go. This has started happening to me in the last 2 or 3 years, so either I've developed an allergy, the area I live in is more bug infested, or he bugs have turned into genetically modified super beings developed by the Russians to torture us. Not even feet seems to protect me any more. Last month I got one that was fully 2 inches across, the itching was horrendous. I'm so afraid, I don't go outside much.

Shock two inches?!

A dollop of Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream will take the redness away.

LoafofSellotape · 01/08/2019 08:23

Looks like it's healing to me.

They always last ages on me too, like a pp said Sudocrem works really well.

PunkTrumpet · 01/08/2019 08:45

Thank you! I'll try that.

Yeah no exaggeration! On the back of my leg. They seem to love my legs. I had evidence but deleted the pic as it was gross Grin

I find nothing works to sooth them except hydrocortisone cream. OTC at chemist, but be careful with it you don't need much. Gives instant itch relief.

Nottobesoldseparately · 01/08/2019 16:57

I've got one now which is refusing to budge, it's over 3 weeks old now.

Sudocrem has made no difference to it at all.
