Hello I had a question I wondered if anybody had gone swimming when Trying conceive and very eay pregnancy. As I have a two and a half year old and she really loves swimming we go sometimes a couple of times a week. I didn't think that me and my partner would be able to have another child naturally as it took us a long time to have our first and we had IVF so we weren't really trying properly we thought if it happens it happens but it probably wouldn't. But turns out a miracle seems to have happened it's hard to believe after having such a hard battle to have her first child. But I usually take Olivia swimming once or twice a week just worried if it could affect the the embryo in any way ??? I'm sure it probably can't get all the way up there I'm probably standing very paranoid but I just worry about the chlorine in the water. I guess it's ok as long as you're not drinking it properly but just worried?

Gosh never thought of that! I used to swim several times a week and never heard it being suggested that one shouldn’t if trying to conceive - surely it’s more or less the same as taking a bath?

I swam with my second until I was 4 months pregnant. No issues. I did google a lot at the time and I think there is a slight risk with the chlorine, but there are other risks we are subjected to that are worse i’m sure. I would have continued swimming throughout if I could, only stopped because of work

I swam throughout both times with no ill effects whatsoever - only stopped at 38 weeks because I was worried the Braxton Hicks could be the real thing.

Your cervix is designed to keep anything that shouldn't be there out of your uterus. It's no different to having a bath. Swimming is encouraged during pregnancy as it's a great way to exercise and relieves some of aches.

Swimming is recommended in pregnancy.
