BillieEilish · 31/07/2019 17:42

DD has a friend round andrequested hotdogs (which I have bought) but have never cooked them apart from on a BBQ once Hmm

I do not have a grill or BBQ at moment.

Anyone know? Thanks so much in advance!

Pan of boiling water for a few minutes or microwave for a minute

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/07/2019 17:44

They're ready cooked and just need heating up, I chuck them in boiling water for a couple of minutes.

Boiling water. Don't think I've ever had them barbequed

Just read the packaging?

dementedpixie · 31/07/2019 17:47

It should tell you on the packaging how to heat them

stucknoue · 31/07/2019 17:48

Herta ones? Microwave for 15 seconds per sausage approximate

Mrsjayy · 31/07/2019 17:52

Bung them in the microwave no more than 30 seconds does it not say on the packet/tin i prefer boiling them but microwave is quicker.

BillieEilish · 31/07/2019 17:56

Brilliant! Thanks all.

I live in Spain and it is not at all clear what I should do on the packet. It says boil in a frying pan and I thought I had misunderstood.

I will boil them then! Or microwave.

Thanks again all Smile

Fry some onions in a bit lot of butter then once they are part cooked tip onions out add hotdogs fry till brown the put the onions back in to finish off .The herta ones are best.

Sam Thanks, I'll deffo do this next time.

Cooked as per PP's instructions above and they turned out great. So easy to do, but I was missing onions!

Great tip.

Don't know what my hotdogs were, some Spanish brand with barely any info on them, apart from that they were 'Gourmet' Grin a gourmet hotdog!!! Tasted nice though.

Read the packet?

Benjispruce · 31/07/2019 19:16

Next time, chop into inch long pieces and thread each piece onto 3 hard spaghetti strands. Boil spaghetti as usual. Your dc will marvel at how the sausage got on the pasta.

Grin great idea Benji

No, I'm in Spain and all it said was 'boil in a frying pan' and I thought it was odd. I looked on the internet and it said 'griddle till you get char marks' and so was panicking as was trying to do the cool play date Hmm Grin Don't have a 'griddle'

Anyway, all's well that ends well!

@BillieEilish
I am glad it went well . but hot dogs with out onions ! what were you thinking ! ? Grin

@Benjispruce
That is a great idea , I need to borrow someones DCs so I can baffle them. Grin
I wonder what other food could be threaded on and cooked like this

Benjispruce · 01/08/2019 10:58

You have to know the parents well or you might be accused of feeding junk to their kids. Imagine that?Grin
For the record I think I gave this to my now teen DC twice in their life!

SamBeckett · 01/08/2019 11:37

That's ok , I look after the DCs freak ( just a bit ) them out feed them junk, hand DCs back to DM/D and not be asked to look after them again . What Have I got to loose ? Grin Grin

It is probably just as well that I do not have any young relatives to look after isnt it ?
