Dublin - Travel Advice

I’m looking for travel advice for a trip to Dublin in August with a 4-year-old. We’re staying near Christchurch Cathedral and will be attending an event at the Convention Centre for part of the visit. Are there any parks with playgrounds in the city centre or near the convention centre, and are there any soft play places nearby - according to google, the Panda Play cafe is the only one near the city centre.

I’d also like to have a trip to a nearby beach if the weather is nice - happy to travel a bit, but we won’t have a car so will be relying on public transport.

All suggestions welcome!

Dublin has its own coastal railway, the DART, so you should have no problem getting to a lovely beach, the main station for it is Pearse, not far from Trinity College.
Two popular beaches are Sandymount and Sandy Cove, both quite short journeys from the city.

Have a lovey time, Dublin is a wonderful city!

St. Stephen's Green is right in the city centre and has a playground as well as ponds with lots of ducks!

Also where you're staying isn't too far from the Phoenix Park, which is a huge expanse of parkland and home to (the wonderful) Dublin Zoo and the President's residence. There's a really good playground there. Not sure about soft play in the city centre, sorry.

The Dart will bring you along the coastline, Sandymount & Sandycove are both lovely as is the Pier at Dun Laoghaire or you could go Northbound as far as Howth which is fab.

There is a lovely park with a playground just beside Saint Patrick's Cathedral which is really near Christchurch.

You could also go to Saint Stephen's green. It has a playground.
There are lovely beaches if you were up for a long bus ride I'd recommend Skerries in North County Dublin. It's lovely.
