Charity gifts

I think I'm going to give up asking for presents for birthdays and Chritmasses, and ask for charity gifts instead. My family is very generous but I know they won't just give money to charity - they'll want some kind of token in return, otherwise they might forget.

What's the best thing to do? I'm worried that a lot of the Oxfam gifts etc are just marketing stunts. This place looks good, but I also worry about the markup:
www.goodgifts.org

Or what about sponsoring a child, etc? Are those things any good?

My family use goodgifts at Christmas. We stopped buying anything else about 10 years ago (adults only, the children get presents) and it's brilliant.

I'm also a fan of chooselove which buys essentials for refugees.

I deviated from the goodgifts for my parents one Christmas and made a donation to a local foodbank instead.
