Hi my son has decided to have a last minute wedding and i like the idea of the build your own wedding cakes at marks and spencers ,but most of the people are vegan and gluten free but the info doesnt specify if its suitable for vegans it just says if its (gluten free or vegetarian) has anyone bought any this way and do you know what the vegan option is thanks also doesnt say what ingredients are to check that way🙄🙄

Ring M&S customer service and ask if there’s a vegan option. As the cake says vegetarian then I’d assume it has eggs in.

For a vegan sponge try Indian bakeries, they are egg free, ours offers gf and vegan icing as an option and the decorations are just fruit. Look beautiful at a fraction of the cost of ordinary wedding cakes.

Are the Indian bakeries also dairy free?

I wouldn't trust M&S to do a decent vegan cake.

There are loads of brilliant vegan cafes and bakeries out there who would do a much better job and it's far better to put business their way rather than try to get a big corporate supplier like M&S involved.

this one will deliver a cake anywhere in the UK for example, but as a first step maybe find all the vegan cafes within an hour's drive of your location and ask them whether whoever makes their cakes is available to make a wedding cake.

I do t think marks and Spencer’s do a vegan cake.

Sainsbury’s do one but it’s rather expensive for what you get and if your feeding lots of people you’d probably be better off getting one made.

Could you do the build your own cake at marksies then get a local cake maker to do you some gluten free and vegan cupcakes?

Thanks FossiPajuZeka im on a really tight budget so just wanting something simple and not too expensive 😊

If most of the guests are vegan maybe they'll have some ideas?

feelingverylazytoday · 31/07/2019 16:33

Any talented bakers in the family? Maybe a home made cake would be an option.
Here's one tutorial thevegan8.com/vegan-vanilla-wedding-cake/

Or a cupcake tower?

I believe Asda sell a vegan chocolate torte which I’m almost certain is also gluten free because it’s made with nut flours. You could buy tiering equipment and tier several of these into a wedding cake, then decorate.
