First pregnancy and worried

Hi

I found out I was pregnant last week, I thought I’d had sickness from a stomach bug but a pregnancy test came back positive (and the following 4 tests I did in shock). I was shocked as I haven’t had a natural period for years, I have been on the pill until 3 months ago or a low body weight and due to excessive exercise they stopped. I have had bad sickness and nausea for over week and bad breast pain, but suddenly it has all stopped. I now have cramping in my lower back like period pains... I have a midwifes appointment next week but I am so worried I’m not sure I can wait that long. I rang the doctors and they told me to take paracetamol and wait for my appointment. I have no idea how far along I am, from symptoms they guessed at least 8 weeks. Is this a silent miscarriage as I have no bleeding?

Symptoms regularly come and go at this stage, sometimes you can feel great, and terrible at others. Aches and pains like you describe are also normal so try not to worry. You could book a private early scan for some reassurance, although if you do that you should bare in mind that if you are earlier than 6 weeks you probably wont see a heartbeat yet which can also cause worry.

Thank you, the doctors are now suggesting that I’m further along than they thought maybe 10-12 weeks. It just seems strange that I had sever nausea and sickness for one week and now it’s suddenly stopped and cramping has begun... I hate not knowing what is going on 😔
