Things to do in Windsor

Got a weekend there in September. Would love some recommendations on places to eat/drink and things to do, boat trip etc.

Lots to do! The boat trips are frequent and you can just turn up, you can get combination tickets too which includes the sightseeing bus. Eton college is very close and obviously the castle. Loads of bars and restaurants to suit any budget. It's small and easy to find your way around. What kind of things do you like and what ages are visiting?

Really depends on your budget, in the main train station opposite the castle there are the usual chains as well as shops, so Carluccios, Cafe Rouge, Bella Italia, All bar one. On the high street Meat at the Parish is pretty good for steak, there’s a Bel and Dragon on the bridge to Eton, The George just over the bridge is nice for food and has a great garden. Loads of coffee shops everywhere, you won’t go hungry and you’ll find something nice within a half hour maximum walk as the centre is not big. Have a drink at the Two Brewers near the gates to the long walk, you might spot famous faces sometimes.

Near the castle there are a couple of pubs in the cobbled streets you might like.

You could take a duck boat tour and maybe there’ll be something you fancy at the theatre Royal or The Old Court arts centre.

There's loads of family friendly activity depending on ages. Dr Choc's chocolate workshops, interactive children's tour and activities at Windsor Castle, places to run around and play in Windsor Great Park, Extreme Motion trampolines and mini golf - and lots of the restaurants and cafes have nice child menus. the local tourist board web page is a good place to start.

All of the above but be careful of parking charges if going in a car, some of the car parks are exorbitant

If you have teens that like burgers/ribs etc then flaming cow is good for dinner. My teens love it.
