Brightened up a bit.

Just for illustration it was impossible to read in the lounge without a light. Believe me, don't believe me, it was an attempt at "chat" ....

Lamps on in Warwickshire. It's got a little brighter since the last deluge.

Danglingmod · 30/07/2019 19:13

I believe you... But not the poster who needs her heating on!? Do you live on Shetland?

BobbinThreadbare123 · 30/07/2019 19:13

Lake District here - chilly, blowing a gale, lashed it down all day and a small thunder storm earlier. I also had to put the big light on!

Also in Birmingham. Was so dark just after 5.00 that the cars all had their lights on. Was bucketing too though, much heavier than the usual summer showers.

BoswellsBollocks · 30/07/2019 19:20

I’m an hour away from Brum and bloody freezing!

shinynewapple · 30/07/2019 19:26

Not too far from you - we've had our lights on and rain rushing down hills like rivers. DH put heating on after getting soaked- I switched it off and opened window as it's not actually cold, just very wet.

My poor dog wants to go out and wee but is refusing to go out in the rain. I carried him out and put him on lawn at one point but he just ran back in.

myusernameisnotmyusername · 30/07/2019 19:32

I'm in Solihull it's dull but not dark!

QueenofLouisiana · 30/07/2019 19:33

Suffolk: I commented on the need to put on a light in order to continue reading at 6.15pm in July.

unmumsymumof2 · 30/07/2019 20:08

Birmingham too & it went so dark! How was it 33 degrees last week to this torrential rain?

boredboredboredboredbored · 30/07/2019 20:10

Hello fellow Brummie. I have blinds down and light on.

MadisonAvenue · 30/07/2019 20:14

I'm in South Staffs and I had to put the light on in the kitchen while preparing dinner. Our house is usually lovely and light whatever the weather but we had to put the lamps on in the living room just after 7.

Moonflower12 · 30/07/2019 20:44

Warwickshire here. It was dull and darkish here at 6.30 too.
Pouring with rain.
DP works in Leicestershire and said he saw so much flooding on his way home.

LoafofSellotape · 30/07/2019 20:49

We have too, shut windows as well as it's rained all day and a bit nippy too. All the lights onSmile

Tiredemma · 30/07/2019 20:51

Also in bham. Was driving back from the city centre at 5. The sky was dark

Bezalelle · 30/07/2019 20:52

Is Birmingham undergoing the Apocalypse?

NotYourHolidayDick · 30/07/2019 20:54

My lad plays football and just had a match against Birmingham City fc, so I've been here since 5pm. I can confirm it was fucking wet, dark, cold, and I'm now buggering off back down the M5 to warmer times Grin

Bunnybigears · 30/07/2019 20:56

Can all you Brummies please do something about the weather down there in time for Thursday? My son is the mascot at Edgbaston and he will be absolutely gutted if it is rained off! If enough of you join forces you can maybe cover the area with umbrellas? Or erect a dome like in the Sinpsons movie?

EileenAlanna · 30/07/2019 21:16

I'm in Birmingham too, city centre. It got dark very early.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 30/07/2019 21:20

North Scotland, no lights on, flipping melting with fans on all over the place! Not often I get to gloat.......but seriously, we Scots are not built for this heat. I actually have an ice pack under my feet. It's been 24deg plus for the last week and I'm done!

Oldraver · 30/07/2019 21:45

It got very dark here in Oxfordshire but the promised storm didnt happen

I was in Brum Sunday and it pissed down most of the day and I was in wellies and plastic mac. Yesterday I left in brilliant sunshine

Typical English summer Grin

BackforGood · 30/07/2019 21:54

I'm in Birmingham too.
I can confirm the darkness, though, tbf, I've had my lights on on every journey I've made today due to the torrential rains we've had all day.
Lots of local flooding (including a couple of lanes on the M5 closed earlier).
Sooooo different from a couple of days ago.
