Week 2 here, got back from Camp Bestival yesterday which was brilliant..kids and grown up's all had a ball.

Been too tired to do much more today than pick the cat up from the cattery and go to Sainsburys.

Going to have to come up with some sort of plan for the rest of the week though as cabin fever set in today.

Only 4 and half weeks left to fill....

Day 5 here and apart from lots of park visits we have just been hanging out at home, long weekend away this weekend then I'll try for some family visits and days out

Its been lovely so far thanks for asking
Got back last weekend after 2 weeks abroad and have just chilled, kids had friends round, walked the dog and pottered around really.
Took DS and his mate to the cinema this morning while Dd is at her friends and I’m having a coffee before doing a bit of work on my laptop.
I love the summer hols and hate it when the dc go back- but they are 10 and 14 so not too much work anymore

Sorry for all the negativity earlier - it is fab to hear that others relish the Summer Hols, I can see that it is my dc current ages that are probably the issue and I know this gets easier (I have an older one too).

Also, sorry to hear about the various illnesses and accidents - hope everyone is on the mend x

Don't apologise @Daphnesmate , I feel the same at times and crave solitude!

The key I guess is to have lots planned, I am trying to swap childcare with DC's friends parents so everyone gets a bit of a break!

Yes, I think you're right about it being better/easier with lots planned Dave but with 3 dc the thought of keeping up that kind of momentum seems exhausting unless it is just an accessible trip to the park.

When I had just my eldest dc, we went here, there and everywhere in the holidays/loads of play invites/meet ups/ activities etc. Then I had dc2 who had quite challenging behaviour and everything seemed to change. DC2 is just turning a corner with behaviour etc. since starting school but now I've got a toddler thrown into the mix (at least eldest is old enough to entertain themselves).

Today has been lovely though. DC2 was out at an organised event. DC1 visited a friend and that allowed me time to spend time with little dc. Holiday club was a good, albeit expensive call I think. Not so phased by Hols now as I was last year.

I did find myself doing a bit of clock watching today though. Funnily enough, whilst we were away on holiday this didn't happen except to check what time the beach café closed so I could purchase a latte - sigh! I had been moaning about the school run earlier but another function that it serves is that with toddler, it forces me out of the house and into the path of other parents and so I think I missed the afternoon one today (although I went for a long walk anyway but spoke to hardly anyone).
