I am Mrs Blobby! Thinking of hiring a running machine, anyone want to join me?

As the title says... I am more wibble/wobble than lithe running machine and am not, unfortunately, confident enough to run in public. I wish I was but I'm not - hence considering this Plan B.

I'm thinking that if I hire a treadmill, which I can use in the privacy of my own home, I can kick start my running skills and hopefully will then be able to brave joining our local running group. Years ago I would happily run on a treadmill at the gym for ages whilst listening to music or watching television but doing this in my own home seems a lot more appealing to me now. I didn't realise you could hire a treadmill and I'm thinking it's going to be more economical to kick start my running ability this way than paying for a year's gym membership which I know that I just won't use...

Has anyone hired a running machine? How did you get on?

Does anyone fancy joining me in this process? It would be fun to compare progress and encourage each other on Smile 👏🏻🏃🏼‍♀️

I have one on hire.

Was doing great with the C25K - reached the beginning of week 8 but crashed & burned last week as I was away with work.

Lost my mojo now to get back on the damn thing. Maybe tomorrow .... Grin

But what I do like is the privacy & ease of not having to go to a gym or frighten the neighbours with my huffing & puffing in the lanes!!

Should add I pay £100 for 10 weeks.

Losing weight is 90% diet. You can’t outrun a bad diet I’m afraid. My advice would be to concentrate on the diet and then start running outside once you lose enough weight to cease being self conscious.

Running doesn't really help you lose weight or tone up though. Well...it helps...but to lose weight, your diet is primary focus and to tone up - weights n exercise focussed on individual parts of the body.

I took up jogging for two months and my weight didn't change (1-1/1/2 hours per day, 6 days pee week). Quit entirely, changed my diet and dropped 15lbs in 3 months.

Still avoiding the weights though xD

Hiring a machine is an interesting idea... I was going to ask for one for my birthday, there are loads of second hand ones around here pretty cheap. Maybe hiring one gets you better quality?
