What has bitten me - I’m covered!

Please help!

I am covered in tiny bites all over my torso, front and back

They are very itchy but only when I’m in bed / not distracted maybe.

Started with a huge welt like bite under my arm on Friday

No more on my arms, none on feet or legs

DS has a few I’m his back. Although tbh it’s possibly just one big one and lots of scratches

DD has none

DS and I went paddling in a river at dusk last Thursday but I’m sure more of these bites are still appearing days later and I was wearing a dress, so torso wasn’t exposed

My bedlinen was clean on a week ago (will hot wash tomorrow). I’ve been sleeping with clothes on. Have taken PJs off as experiment to see if gets worse

When I’m in bed I feel like I can feel stuff creeping all over me

It’s freaking me out

Bed bugs?

Spartak · 30/07/2019 01:45

I can't really see the photos all that well as I'm on my phone with a cracked screen protector, but any chance it could be shingles?

Worth a look on Google to see if your rash is similar. It's normally quite localised.

Not shingles. It’s not following any kind of pattern that I can see

Bed bugs I worried about. But why only my middle (mostly) under where I’ve been wearing clothes?

I did google bed bug bites but they all looked swollen. I only had one very large swollen bite. These are tiny tiny little bites

I'm covered in small itchy bites too, normally I get loads of mozzie bites which come up in big red lumps but these are much smaller.
I think there are lots of midges and gnats around ATM, as well as biting flies.
I saw a really small fly-like insect on my arm a couple of weeks ago in the garden , it bit me and I really could feel it! But it didn't start to itch until 24-36 hours later. It was barely bigger than a pinprick but it itched liked buggery!
So lots of sympathy, I put a dab of Deep Relief gel (ibuprofen and levomenthol on the area, it cools the itch and takes the swelling down.

If it was dusk by a river it could have been midges/mosquitos/flies/flying ants that have bitten you and may have brought them home in your clothes. Or it could be fleas.

I’d go to a chemist tomorrow and ask the pharmacist to look at the bites.

Blahblahblahnanana · 30/07/2019 02:14

I’d never ever go near water at dusk it’s where all of the biting insects like to congregate. Makes me itch thinking about it! 🤢

TastyBugLunch · 30/07/2019 08:10

Yes in hindsight the river was a dumbarse move

I just really really hope that’s what it is

But new ones are arriving every day!! I could cry

Buy some anti histamine cream, essential summer kit for bites and stings.

abcyz · 30/07/2019 08:46

Are you sure it's bites? It could be some sort of heat rash or contact dermatitis, but definitely worth getting some antihistamines or antihistamine cream if it's itching a lot.

Conflicted121 · 30/07/2019 08:50

Google Hot tub foliculitus.

It’s from bacteria in the water particuarly in hot days and usually appears under where the clothing was.

longwayoff · 30/07/2019 09:40

And a bottle of Piriton.

TastyBugLunch · 30/07/2019 16:03

Will google that thing. I didn’t wonder about a rash of some sort due to the area

Scabies?

Aquamarine1029 · 30/07/2019 16:08

I don't think those are bites, op.

disconnecteddrifter · 30/07/2019 16:18

Chiggers. We had them last year. They itch like mad. Look it up as you'll need to exterminate them from clothing

Mustbetimeforachange · 30/07/2019 16:28

They look like a rash, rather than bites to me. Show them to a pharmacist.

Jaxhog · 30/07/2019 16:35

I vote for chiggers too. Or it's an allergic reaction. In case it's chiggers, wash thoroughly to get rid of them, and do the same for any clothes you've worn for the past couple of days. Either way, cover yourself in calamine lotion. It helps with the itching.

Oldraver · 30/07/2019 16:42

DS had something like this a few years ago 9and I was initially woriied it was bedbugs)

Now I cant remember the name but it was a rash tha starts off with one big welt then comes up with lots of little ones. His initial one was on his waitband area.

I took him to see the nurse than she asked GP to confirm

GingerRogers84 · 30/07/2019 16:51

Maybe harvest mites? We only had them because of the dog though!

Instagran · 30/07/2019 16:55

Pityriasis rosea.
