Does this look like chicken pox?

Dd age 18months had a high temp of 38 on Friday. It went down, then came back Saturday night and went again.

Today, on pick up, the childminder said that she thinks she's got chicken pox as she's come up in a dotty rash on her legs, arms and torso.

However, she's had the 1st dose of the chicken pox vaccine (meant to be getting top up shot next week) so, in theory, there's a 9/10 chance that she's immune to chicken pox already.

My thought was roseola maybe? As it appeared two days after the fever had gone.

Dd is totally well and cheerful

Are they coming to a fluid filled blister?

Emmabryant123 · 29/07/2019 20:25

Looks nothing like it
Looks just like a bit of heat rash to me

No chicken pox is much "angrier"

Nearlyfriyay987654 · 29/07/2019 20:28

I think looks more heat rash? You will know within a few hours as chicken pox gets angry very quickly!!

eastandwestand · 29/07/2019 20:43

We got mild chicken pox after the full vaccine!

fiorentina · 29/07/2019 20:43

I also don’t think it looks like chicken pox. They quickly become liquid filled and get angry looking.

timeforawine · 29/07/2019 20:47

Looks a bit like something my daughter has had a couple of times, still not sure what it is but 2 doctors ruled out chicken pox, suggested maybe irritated hair follicles, came and went so fast it was hard to tell. She has also had the CP vaccine and while you can still get a mild case she's avoided 3 outbreaks at nursery

Thank you all!

@Fluffycloudland77 no fluid-filled blisters yet, but they haven't been there for that long.

It keeps almost coming and going - patches vanish, then denser, more clumped together patches appear.

@eastandwestand oh no! Was that as a result from the vaccine do you think, or actually caught CP?

Forgot to add, she's still breastfed, and as I'm immune to CP (having had it as a kid) then I would have thought it would protect her a bit too?

I said heat rash too, but Childminder was sure it was the start of chicken pox.

We called NHS Direct a few hours ago and are waiting on a callback.

@timeforawine I read that the mild cases would be around 50 spots, max, and she's totally dotty. So am thinking it's probably not CP as too many spots. They also seem to small and non-fluid filled

My daughter had patches, mainly on her tummy, just tiny bumps, didn't itch or bother her and would fade within hours then a new cluster might appear, had it maybe 4-5 days on 2 occasions, not had it in months, very odd!
