My parents have offered to have our two DC for a weekend so for the first time in 11yrs DH and I are going away just us! It's long overdue and really needed - we need to invest some quality time into our marriage.

We would like a hotel that does nice food, has a pool and where we are able to go for a nice walk together. We plan on just relaxing in the hotel mainly and eating there also. Not too expensive but don't mind it being a bit more special. We live in Wiltshire, don't mind driving up to about 2ish hours. Any suggestions gratefully received!

No pool, but have you tried the Lamb at Hindon? Right on your doorstep, fantastic food, nice atmosphere, fab beds, and a really cracking breakfast. I try to make sure we get to stay there every time we are back in the UK. If you can get one of the external rooms, it is even better.

Thanks for the suggestion but that is just a bit too close to home!

If Bovey Castle is in your price range I would recommend it too

Aren't we all different as I didn't rate Bovey Castle at all. Pool is worn out and tired, as are the changing rooms. Service wasn't great. Rooms are SO uncomfortably hot. Beautiful building though.

To be fair I have only eaten there but friends have stayed.

Lots of the nicest places I’ve stayed don’t have pools. Lots of lovely small places in the Cotswolds that I’ve heard great things about. Wealthier friends than I swear by Babington House which does have a spa.

Carey’s manor in Brockenhurst
Chewton Glen

Cowley Manor used to be lovely but I left the U.K. 8 years ago.

I don’t think any of them have pools but if you could overlook that then check out The Pig hotel range. I’ve stayed in four of their hotels and had a brilliant weekend every time.

Otherwise, Pennyhill Park is amazing, spa and pools are great, Michelin star restaurant etc.

How about the Cotswolds or Bath

JazzyGG · 29/07/2019 21:01

No pool but The White Hart in Moreton in Marsh is lovely and food is amazing.

The Elms at Abberley (Worcester) and New Hall in Sutton Coldfield have great spas and pools too.
