I have a pretty long list and just need to shorten it up a bit.

Elphaba (Elphie) Louise
Penelope Strom
Rosie Blodwyn
Mollie blodwyn
Ea
Vera
Delphi Marie
Winifred (Winnie)
Moira

Thanks Smile

Penelope is lovely.

Elphaba is....erm...unusual. Please for the sake of your poor kid, please don't use that. Likewise Vera. I'm not sure that's on the cool old lady names list.

Go with Penelope, Rosie or Mollie, your daughter will thank you.

Bezalelle · 29/07/2019 16:31

Is Ea a spelling mistake?

Soola · 29/07/2019 16:33

@Bezalelle it’s short for Ear.

I like Penelope or Rosie.

FlibbertyGiblets · 29/07/2019 16:34

Ea prn like the back end of Leah, is Scandiwegian or nordic. (May or may not be true)

DramaAlpaca · 29/07/2019 16:35

Well... Penelope, Louise & Rosie are nice.

FlibbertyGiblets · 29/07/2019 16:38

Need omlettes* over, can't do them on crappy phone.

*I know, umlaut, but still.

FizzBuzzBangWoof · 29/07/2019 16:39

I'd stick with Penelope, Rosie or Mollie personally

I like Elphie but dislike Elphaba

Just choose whatever middle name you fancy as it won't be used on a day to day basis so largely irrelevant

1CarefulLadyOwner · 29/07/2019 16:42

I noticed you had some Welsh names, so what about Eirwen?

ElizaPancakes · 29/07/2019 16:48

Personally I hate them all.

Sorry.

ElizaPancakes · 29/07/2019 16:49

Mollie is ok but Molly better (no real reason I just prefer the spelling).

FirstTimeToddlerMum · 29/07/2019 18:30

Penelope or Rosie , think of the trouble your child will have with a complicated name.

SoftBlocks · 29/07/2019 18:31

Delphi or Penelope

aphrodites · 29/07/2019 18:36

Penelope, Winifred or Delphi.

TenThousandSpoons · 29/07/2019 18:50

Elphaba (Elphie) - Elephant
Penelope - nice especially nn Penny
Rosie - nice
Mollie - prefer Molly spelling but yes
Ea - Eh?
Vera - don’t like
Delphi Marie - ok
Winifred (Winnie) - ok
Moira - ok

ShirleyPhallus · 29/07/2019 18:55

Blodwyn sounds like a fungal infection

amusedbush · 29/07/2019 18:58

They're all pretty rotten - sorry, OP.

Moira? Vera? Are you giving birth to a 60 year old??

Blodwyn sounds like some kind of insect.

Just call her Molly - spelled the normal way.

Antigoneishername · 29/07/2019 19:16

People will always hate whatever name you pick, no name suits everyone.
My DD is called Antigone, Tiggy for short. She loves it. I know it sounds pretentious but my dsis had a teddy bear of that name as a kid and it's always seemed normal to me. Go with what you love.

SouthWestmom · 29/07/2019 19:28

Elphaba (Elphie) Louise - nope. Too much connection to Wicked
Penelope Strom - ok, don't like the inevitable Penny though

Rosie Blodwyn - Rosie neutral
Mollie blodwyn - Molly popular and neutral
Ea - ?
Vera - hmm prefer Nora in the same vein
Delphi Marie - nope Google will bring up the Delphi murders
Winifred (Winnie) - nope
Moira - again neutral

Youmadorwhat · 29/07/2019 19:32

Elphaba (Elphie) Louise -no
Penelope strom - without the “strom”
Rosie blodwyn - better
Mollie blodwyn - better
Ea- ??? No
Vera -meh
Delphi Marie -no
Winifred (Winnie) - maybe
Moira - I like it

AlwaysCheddar · 29/07/2019 20:31

Elphaba (Elphie) Louise - no to elephant (not a typo but what your kid would get called)
Penelope Strom - no to Strom
Rosie Blodwyn
Mollie blodwyn - no to blodwyn - sounds like a welsh moron
Ea - no - say wit with a cockney accent and it sounds like ‘ere. Middle name to be fishwife
Vera - urgh
Delphi Marie - oh dear
Winifred (Winnie) - nope
Moira - nope

Sorry

Oddsocks2 · 29/07/2019 20:47

I only really like Rosie from your list.
If you like Welsh names, what about Lowri or Lonwen? (I know a lovely Lonwen but not sure of spelling)
Whatever you decide, don’t forget to check the initials - you don’t want them spelling out anything unfortunate!
