Looking for a last minute ish break in September. Love the lakes, been all over so not fussed where abouts but ideally looking for recommendations as can’t get into our usual spots.

Ideally up to mid range in price (ie not £267 a night), the budget friendlier the better and open to hotels, b&bs and rentals.

Anyone got somewhere they really rated and would go back to in a heartbeat?

The Fisherbeck in Ambleside - gorgeous breakfasts! I've only stayed in the garden rooms which are lovely, but I think it's all supposed to be nice.

Ooh thank you. I want to get together a bit of a list so I can be a bit choosy on dates so appreciate any posts

Check out Lakelovers.co.uk
We rent a cottage in the lakes every year, the choice is really good, and spans all areas.

Old Vicarage Ambleside - very good value, comfy beds and they have a pool

Windermere marina village. We rented an apartment there was lovely.

Bellasblankexpression · 29/07/2019 15:17

Seacote Park at St Bees near Whitehaven, you'll get a modern caravan with decking all around with a very close up view of the sea for a really good price, we have been a few times.

Low Wood Bay in Windermere is nice and dog friendly if that's of any interest. Most decent places in the Lakes are.

They sometimes do DB&B deals but is definitely at the top of your range.

Inn on the Lake in Glenridding, on ullswater

Town Gate barn Threlkeld is the best holiday rental we have ever stayed in. Upside down house, amazing views and everything you could want in a lakes property.

We spent 2 very happy weeks there and would love to return.

Ive never been but friends have been to forest how and liked it and said there are lots of red squirrels in the grounds. Nice, quiet part of the lakes.

The Lodore falls hotel is lovely but a bit under £200 a night.

Mary Mount hotel also nice.

MichonnesBBF · 29/07/2019 20:39

We stayed in the Damson Dene Hotel at Easter and loved it £200 for 2 nights family room (2 kids 2 adults) with breakfast included, swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna no time limits on pool for kids.

We have just booked to go back during the holidays and is only £30 more. 10 minutes car ride from a marina.
