We are camping in Scotland next week. I will be eaten alive if i don't protect myself.

What is the best thing to buy? Or should I just try and get some Avon?

Avon oil spray! It really works. There is also another spray called midge. Where abouts in Scotland are you going? The west is worse for midges.

I use Smidge. I don’t find Avon works.

Mohair is a great deterrent.

Smidge.

I find Avon skin so soft the best but tbh I'd get a midge net if you are camping and keep covered when you are still. Midges I swear have evolved to get through all sprays

Once when I was camping in Arran I counted over 200 bites on the last day

Jungle Formula

PickleSarnie · 29/07/2019 10:16

Smidge is good. And smells nice and non-chemically

PickleSarnie · 29/07/2019 10:18

But if it's the West Coast you're going to then this is what you need......

Another vote for Skin So Soft. It's the only spray containing citronella that actually smells nice (ie, nothing like citronella).

sleepwhenidie · 29/07/2019 10:27

Smidge!

Tavannach · 29/07/2019 10:33

A sprig of bog myrtle behind both ears.
Smoke.
Take garlic capsules - start now.
Citronella candles.
Sit next to someone they prefer.
Smidge or Buzz Off or Skin So Soft.

I live in the midgiest forest on earth so am a expert in midge repellent. Nordic Summer is the absolute best, but stinks and feels greasy, so we generally use Smidge. If you are sitting out then light a fire or citronella incense.
