How did you get into your career?

DC has just graduated from uni in a complete state of indecision about what profession to go into. It got me thinking, I never really planned what I was going to do post uni and just sort of fell into my current profession based on the availability of work at the time.

How did you get into your current profession?

Congratulations on your son/daughter graduating.

What degree did they study, general interests, general skills?

I studied maths, however I knew I would then go on to be an actuary as it’s something I would be able to do and the pay is decent. I started in insurance but I moved on to corporate banking.

My first career was something that I had planned. I have just embarked on a new, totally different, career and I just saw the role advertised and decided to go for it. Didn't expect to get an interview and then the job but I am very pleased that I did.

Congratulations on the new job RidgedPerfection.

Yes I think some degrees offer a more ‘obvious’ path than others.

By falling into something then getting to my thirties and knowing I had to get serious about the career I really wanted. So then, PG study, and starting at the bottom again. Smile It worked out brilliantly.

Don't worry too much.
