Do you have a Philips Lumea or similar - can you advise please?

Looking for advice please?

I would like to try one of these things, meet the criteria re skin colour and hair colour.

However . . .

There are so many different ones, with so many different prices. Why should I get one for an eye-watering £350 when I can get one for £70? (both these examples are Philips Lumea ones)

Presumably the expensive one if better but it's not clear from reading descriptions in what way . . .?

I feel tempted to get the cheap one to start with because if it turns out it doesn't work for me I won't have wasted much money.

What ones would you guys recommend, please?

And how about the other makes out there? Any good?

Oooh ooh and do you have to buy any extras?

Thank you so much in advance Flowers

I have this one www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N6SJ4NU/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
Expensive but it has changed my life and money well spent. Wish I'd got it years ago.

Lumea did nothing for gorilla-y me. I got a Smoothskin gold and haven't looked back. It was billed as the most powerful on the market at the time and I can do a whole treatment in about 20 minutes. These days I have to remember to top up so probably go 4-6 weeks between sessions.

I have pcos and my lumea is crap, has made zero difference at all

The varying price also is because of the amount of flashes the bulb will do and whether it can be changed.

I have a Lumea and must say it isn’t the holy grail it’s made out to be on here. While it has reduced and thinned my hair, I still have to shave after months of using every fortnight.

I’d probably see where you get to with one of the cheaper ones before splashing out.
