New car

Hi. I'm 22 weeks pregnant, and I had to get a bigger car, as my old one wouldn't fit 3 car seats in the back. So I got a Hyundai tucson, and I can't drive it! I've been driving manual cars for 11, nearly 12 years. I've driven different makes and models, and I've even driven a van, and I've had no problems before. However, I just can't seem to get my head around the gears of this car. It's not the clutch, it's the gears. I can't seem to get it in gear. I feel like I'm learning to drive all over again! My mother-in-law says it's really easy to drive, and she doesn't know why I'm struggling soo much. I feel really thick, and stupid. Everytime I've tried to drive it, I can't get 2 seconds down the road, before I'm pulling over and crying. The indicators and wipers are also the wrong way around, and I know I'd get used to that, but at the moment, it's the gears. I'm loosing confidence in my ability to drive. I hate getting into the car. Can anyone help me please? Please don't say I just need to practice, as I have been, and I'm not improving any. I'm feeling really down about this, so please be nice xx

Sorry to be unhelpful, but didn't you test drive it before you bought it? And is it difficult for everyone, or just you - could there be something wrong with it?

I didn't test drive it, as my mother-in-law wanted to check it over for any knocking, etc. So she test drove the car. Like I've said, I've driven loads of different cars, so I didn't think to test drive it myself. My mother-in-law says the car is absolutely fine, so it's not a problem with the car. It's me. I've just never been defeated by a car before xx

Morning, @Starkitten86. We're just going to move your thread out of the Ask Me Anything topic and over to Chat, where you'll hopefully get some useful responses.
All the best,
